Cargo & Warehouses

Cargo, warehouse and terminal inspections

From sampling to storage, every stage affects how a cargo is assessed. RS checks conditions on site, labels samples and documents what was observed to support decisions on agricultural bulks, minerals and fertilizers.

Why engage RS

Traceability to understand cargo condition.

A difference between origin and destination calls for more than checking the result presented. Sampling, labelling, grading criteria and handling conditions all need context. An independent inspection brings that context together to support the client's assessment.

  1. 01

    Labelled samples.

Preparation, labelling and dispatch to the laboratory help link the results to the cargo examined.

  2. 02

    Conditions observed on site.

Cargo, warehouse, terminal and vehicles can be checked at the stages covered by the scope.

  3. 03

    Deviations documented.

Reports and photographs give a technical reference for discussing differences and deciding next steps.

Service scope

Cargo & Warehouse Inspections

Sampling, grading and verification of agricultural bulks, minerals and fertilizers, from the warehouse to the hold.

Cargo, sampling and grading

Checks on the cargo and on the sample that will represent it, with grading and reports where applicable.

  • Inspection of agricultural bulks, minerals and fertilizers
  • Technical sampling of cargo and products
  • Preparation, labelling and dispatch of samples to laboratories
  • Grain grading
  • Issuance of technical reports
  • Verification of apparent cargo condition
Grain sample sorted into sound grains, foreign matter, immature, broken, shrivelled and mouldy kernels
Grading: the sample sorted by defect type.

Receipt, storage and handling

Conditions at terminals, warehouses and vehicles checked before and during handling.

  • Discharge monitoring at terminals
  • Warehouse and terminal inspections
  • Pre-receipt checks of warehouse structure and conditions
  • Pre-loading inspection of trucks and railcars

Specific attendance

RS attends these stages according to the service contracted. Execution remains with the party responsible for it.

  • Fumigation and ventilation / Gas-Free attendance

When RS is called in

  • Origin versus port differences

A grading difference on arrival can lead to trucks being held, queues and quality disputes. Independent sampling, laboratory analysis and a technical report give the traceability needed to analyse the difference.

  • Bulk fertilizers

Attendance at discharge, handling, storage and dispatch, with sampling, reports and records of deviations that can support the client's position if needed.

  • Storage and the feed chain

Structure, moisture, pests, segregation and previous cargoes checked on site, with attention to cross-contamination and traceability, points highlighted by requirement frameworks such as GMP+ and HACCP. RS does not issue these certifications.

How RS works

From on-site checks to traceable information

  1. 01

    Defining what needs checking

Product, location, stage and reason for the inspection shape the scope.

  2. 02

    Inspecting and sampling where applicable

Apparent condition and the agreed points are checked on site.

  3. 03

    Labelling and dispatching samples

Where contracted, preparation and dispatch make it possible to link the analysis to the cargo examined.

  4. 04

    Documenting observations

Reports, grading and photographs are compiled according to the services that apply.

What the client receives

Laboratory analysis is carried out by laboratories engaged according to the request.

  • Labelled samples dispatchedA reference of origin for the laboratory analysis contracted.
  • Technical report and grading, where applicableInformation for assessing the characteristics examined.
  • Photographic recordDocumentation of the apparent condition of the cargo and the facilities checked.
  • Documentation of deviationsA basis for analysing differences and guiding next steps.
